Buy American, Buy Union: Union Label Week

Now, more than ever, union families need to stick together. Here’s a brief list of things you can do to remind your community of the good things that unions do for all. • Send a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. • Submit an op-ed (editorial) comment from the head of your local union, council, state or central labor council with the message: Our economy needs unions. Unions add value to our community. • Get a delegation together to ask your city/county council to pass a resolution to recognize labor’s role in making the community work. • Buy newspaper ads, billboards or radio time to remind the community about what unions do to improve the quality of life in America. • Submit short (15 or 30-second) radio script to be read as a public service announcement on your local radio stations. You’ll find samples of each of these suggested activities enclosed in this package, or use them as a guide to compose your own thoughts.
